After Lindros dies he finds himself alone in total darkness and silence remaining in this place for what seems like a small eternity. He then finds himself as a little boy again but discovers everyone else looks like an adult version of Robert Lindros, even his mother.

Lindros begins to relive his childhood until once again he is thrust into darkness and silence. Later he begins to see fantastic images and colors associated with feelings of euphoria and pleasure but these pleasant feelings give way to excruciating pain and feeling as though his is burning even while he doesn’t seem to have a physical body. Back into darkness and silence again Lindros speculates if all of this is what the afterlife is really like but he has his doubts but he does consider the idea he’s actually in hell and might end up existing in the dark and silence forever.

Later Lindros can see a tiny speck of light which grows steadily until he can see what looks like a room filled with equipment. But the image of the room is replaced with what Lindros recognizes as a Godzilla film but without sound. Various films play one after another entertaining Lindros. Later Lindros hears a men’s voices and the voices identify themselves as Gronk Harrison and Ferris Day, two brain research scientists. The scientists inform Lindros he is actually a disembodied brain being keep alive artificially and that they have been running various tests to try and determine if his brain was viable and alive or not.

Lindros explains some of those tests were very unpleasant and the scientists apologize. By and by the scientists begin to add various components to Lindros’ brain giving him mechanical robot arms he can manipulate as part of secondary tests. Eventually they provide Lindros with a full robot body warehousing his brain giving him almost full function. The scientists explain all of this is their efforts to discover if it is possible to keep a human brain alive inside a robot body as a method by which to vastly extend the cognitive lifespan of human beings transplanting their brains into robots.

They explain Lindros is the very first human brain to undergo the procedure and it’s a complete success. Lindros in his robot body is taken on a tour and becomes famous. Later he meets a woman who falls in love with him and the couple marries. Eventually the woman gets sick and her body is going to die so they transplant her brain into a robot creating the very first cyborg couple. The couple adopts an orphan Asian boy but he gets cancer as a teenager and he too ends up in a robot body creating the very first cyborg family unit. Eventually the procedure is extended to peoples pets and when Lindros’ family dog gets run over by a car they transplant the dogs brain into a canine robot body.
